Little League International Mourns the Passing of Antonio Vazquez Urdaneta

Mr. Urdaneta, a supporter of Little League in Puerto Rico, succumbed on Monday at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, S.C.

In July, Mr. Urdaneta was admitted to the hospital while he was attending the Big League World Series in Easley, S.C.

According to Ralph Heredia, who is a translator for the Latin American teams during their stay in Easley, Mr. Urdaneta suffered a stroke and had gone into a coma at the time of his death. Mr. Urdaneta had been a dialysis patient for a number of years and had been in need of a kidney transplant, Heredia said.

Mr. Urdaneta attended the Big League World Series the first time in 2002, and was presented with the team from Puerto Rico won the championship. Puerto Rico again won the championship in 2010 and Mr. Urdaneta was in attendance.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Urdaneta is survived by a son and two daughters.
