Baseball Hitting Tips – Pulling The Ball : Baseball Drills

The term pulling the ball refers to where the ball is hit. A right-handed batter is pulling the ball if he hits it to the left of second base. A left-handed batter is pulling the ball if the ball goes to the right of second base. To pull the ball, batters swing early so that the barrel of the bat is farther along in the swing when it makes contact with the ball. Hitters often try to pull the ball when they want to hit for power. Because the swing has started earlier, the hitter generates more bat speed and therefore hits with more power.
